Chartered Environmental Health Practitioner digital credentialChartered status is the highest level of professional achievement within the environmental health profession. It recognises an individual’s breadth of knowledge, depth of experience, and ongoing commitment to excellence.

Why become a Chartered EHP?

Becoming a Chartered Environmental Health Practitioner (EHP) sets you apart as a trusted, highly skilled professional. Based on member feedback, here are the top reasons to become Chartered:

CIEH is the only professional body able to award Chartered EHP status, giving you the exclusive post-nominals CEnvH. More than 78% of surveyed members say this recognition helps them stand out, signalling to employers, peers and the public that you meet the highest professional standards.

Chartered practitioners' commitment to 30 hours of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) each year means they are at the top of their profession. Over 80% of members surveyed believe Chartered status should be maintained through CPD. This continuous learning gives you an edge with employers and peers, keeping you relevant with the latest practical knowledge and skills.

All Chartered Members and Fellows must complete an annual CPD Declaration.

Demonstrating your skill, knowledge, and dedication to development through accreditation and continuous learning provides employers, peers, and the public with confidence in your proficiency. Over 46% of our surveyed members told us Chartered status provides advantages when it comes to their employability.
